Put kids and Lego together, and building, learning and pure fun are guaranteed to ensue. And it was from this solid building block that the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) sought to create a five-day family-friendly exhibition at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

Concept and development

To realise their idea, the BTEA engaged Pico, who worked closely with both the client and Stack to further develop the concept. It evolved as a multi-themed installation that would appeal to ‘kids of all ages’ and enable them to connect with the world of Lego throughout their stay at the event.

In total, Pico provided professional event services ranging from overall venue design and décor, event management to merchandising stalls and ushers and ticketing management.

Execution

For many visitors, the final result must have seemed like a Lego dream; entering the installation through a grand arched portal constructed of Lego bricks, they could choose from a dizzying array of themes found within 6,000 sq. m. of Stack Zones and Lego Zones. Among the most popular themes were Star Wars, the Desert Scene, the Green Pit, and Lego Ninjago. Children of a more racy disposition could also take the wheel of a Lego Ferrari – a perfect photo opportunity for a memorable five days of fun.

Result

The quality and professionalism of the Pico team’s work were instrumental to the event’s success, with both BTEA and Stack expressing great satisfaction with the outcome.
